Located in southwest Portland, Tryon Creek is the only Oregon state park within a major metropolitan area.
“Forest Park’s little brother” is a green oasis of more than 650 acres that lies within the triangle formed by Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard, Southwest Boones Ferry Road, and the northern neighborhoods of Lake Oswego.
These surrounding signs of urbanization don’t detract from the relaxing solitude you’ll experience while running the park’s 14 miles of trails.
The longest individual trail segment is only about a mile long, so you’ll need to string together multiple loops on the park’s margin and through it’s interior to achieve longer distances. Trails vary from wide, flat surfaces suitable for stollers to narrow, twisty single-track, all under a dense forest canopy.
There are at least nine access points, but the main park entrance is on Terwilliger. Maps and complete park information can be found at tryonfriends.org.
