The publicly-owned Glendoveer Golf Course in NE Portland has a popular two-mile nature trail around and through it that is ideal for walking and jogging.
Located at approximately NE 140th Ave and Glisan Street, Glendoveer is a property of Metro, our tri-county government. It actually comprises two golf courses and a driving range, so this is a big open space in the city.
Since 2014 Glendoveer has hosted the top high school runners in the country every fall for Nike Cross Nationals, though the kids run mostly on the grass of the golf course.
The nature/fitness loop that you're going to enjoy is primarily well-manicured bark-chip surface, with a short paved section near the parking lot and clubhouse. Here's a map of the loop we made.
Glendoveer is very popular and open year-round. There's no fee to use the path. One important thing to note before you go: Dogs are not allowed at Glendoveer.
