Voted Best Running Store in Portland 2015–2023

Run Pub Adds Rage Room

Run Pub Adds Rage Room

Portland's only combination public house and specialty running store surprised observers Tuesday with the addition of a fully equipped rage room.

Visitors to Run Pub, inside Portland Running Company on NW Raleigh Street, will now have access to an array of sledgehammers, crow bars, spray paints, and other implements as well as targets to wallop and deface, including mannequins, computers, and cars parked longer than 5 minutes in the loading zone out front.

"Running can be a frustrating pursuit. Uncooperative weather, distracted drivers, persistent injuries, shopping at Dick's—these things can lead to a lot of pent up anger," said Run Pub and Portland Running Company owner "Crazy" Dave Harkin.

"Until now there's been no healthy way for frustrated runners to relieve all that stress," he added.

At press time, Harkin was reportedly weighing an additional weekly group run and rage fest to showcase the new facility, but was torn between "What the Actual Wednesday?" and "%&$#?! This &$#@ Friday."

"We may need to assemble a wild-eyed focus group to really pinpoint on a granular scale what resonates with the bent-out-of-shape," said Harkin, a vein pulsing ominously on his temple.

After venting spleen, participants in the group workout can enjoy socializing over discounted beverages in the quiet corner of Run Pub or on the sun-drenched streetside patio.
